The second algorithm projects the so-called macro zones on the tongue, that are associated with the supreme systems of regulation in the body presented by Maha Doshas in Ayurveda or Ying-Yang balance in TCM. In case of Vikruti condition (a pathological deviation in the performance of the regulation systems – Dosha), identified by the module “Constitution” (view the detailed information at the link), the zone, associated with the corresponding Dosha, gets highlighted in one of two colors:

• red - the initiation phase, the aggravation of Doshas and their “pouring out” from the site of localization (Vriddhi state) due to an acute pathological process.
• yellow - Dosha is weakened (Kshaya state) due to chronic pathological process. In this case, the imbalance of Vata Dosha corresponds to pathological development and spread of Wind in the traditional Chinese medicine, Pitta Dosha imbalance – to empty or full of Heat and Kapha Dosha imbalance – to accumulation of Dampness and Phlegm.

Tongue diagnosis was established as a coherent system of knowledge in 1600 BC, as there are direct mentions in Chinese sources dating from the Shang Dynasty. Tongue diagnosis (SKT. jihva pariksha, eng. tongue diagnosis) is the second most important method of assessing the health status of the patient after pulse diagnosis.

The third algorithm interconnects data obtained by the analysis of Subdoshas (regulation systems) projecting at the third level of the pulse (view the detailed information at the link) and data provided by the examination of the tongue. This algorithm is being an innovation developed by the VedaPulse project. It allows to integrate the data provided by the Tongue diagnosis module into analysis of the stages and mechanisms of pathogenesis according to Ayurveda and TCM fundamentals. As a result of an automatic analysis carried out by the heuristic algorithm of the program we get data on the condition of regulation systems, qualified by Subdoshas, displayed on the image of the tongue in the zones associated with the corresponding system. The zones are also highlighted in three different ways:

• no highlighting - according to the pulse diagnosis, the Subdosha, associated with of the corresponding organ’s performance is in a balanced/harmonious state and provides sufficient regulatory influence on the maintenance of normal organ function;
• yellow - according to the pulse diagnosis, the Subdosha, associated with the corresponding organ’s performance, is being in a state of tension as it struggles to compensate the existing chronic pathological process, while in the body there is a tendency to depletion of function and adaptation resources.
• red - according to the pulse diagnosis, the Subdosha, associated with the corresponding organ’s performance, is being in a state of tension as it struggles to compensate the existing acute pathological process, while in the body there is a tendency to tension of function and adaptation resources.

In case the functional system is highlighted in yellow or red, the specialist should pay more attention to this part of the tongue in order to find the reflection of the problem in the corresponding organ, which may occur in the form of pathological process in this system.
