Tongue diagnosis

Tongue diagnosis

The Tongue Diagnosis software module is designed for the qualitative analysis of the body's functional systems (organs) from the perspective of various traditional medicine systems, such as Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Tibetan medicine. Based on the analysis of 24 projection zones on the tongue, this module assesses the probability of developing pathological processes in organs and tissues.

The module consists of 2 tabs: Upload and Analysis.

The Upload tab is designed for photographing the client's tongue and defining its borders for analysis.

Click the Select image button. A window will open, offering three ways to upload a tongue photo:

Select image

To upload a file from your computer, click the Upload from file button.

Upload from file

Click the Webcam button to capture an image of the client's tongue during the appointment, using either the laptop's built-in webcam or an external USB camera.

Click the Webcam button to open the Take a photo window. Here, you can:

To capture an image of the tongue, click the Capture button.

Take a photo

You can also upload a photo directly from your smartphone. To do this:

  1. On your smartphone's browser, go to the webpage vedapuls.ru/takephoto You can do this by:

    • Entering the link manually, or
    • Scanning the provided QR code.
  2. On the opened webpage, enter your email address (the same one listed in your Specialist profile2. ). If you use the QR code, your email will be filled in automatically.

  3. Click Take Photo to open the camera.

  4. Take a photo of the tongue. A thumbnail preview of the image will be displayed on your smartphone.

  5. Click Use This Photo. The newly sent photo will always replace the previous one. Wait until you see the status message: Photo successfully uploaded!

  6. In the "VedaPulse® Professional" software, click the Upload from smartphone button. The program will search for and download the photo.

*The photo is automatically deleted from the web server as soon as it is downloaded to your computer.

After uploading the photo, define the analysis area by outlining the tongue's contour. Use the adjustment points to align the dashed border line with the edges of the tongue in the photo:

If needed, click Rotate the image to rotate the image (each click rotates the image by 90 degrees).

The Analysis tab features an automated algorithm for analyzing pathological stigmas projected onto different zones of the tongue.

The algorithm automatically maps the projections of the body's functional systems onto the tongue image. The specialist then performs an analysis of the pathological stigmas present in these various zones.

The program highlights zones in red and yellow that require the specialist's utmost attention, based on the current functional state of the body as provided by the ECG recording. To perform this analysis, select one of the following assessment modes: Organ Pulses, Dosha Balance, or Subdosha Balance.

Organ Pulses

Organ Pulses Algorithm

The first algorithm integrates data from the Organ Pulses module (from both superficial and deep levels) with data provided by the Tongue Diagnosis module. As a result of an automatic analysis performed by the program's heuristic algorithm, data on the condition of the body's functional systems (organs) is displayed directly onto the corresponding projection zones on the tongue image.

Here, the zones corresponding to different organs are highlighted in one of three colors:

If a functional system is highlighted in yellow or red, the specialist should examine that corresponding area of the tongue more carefully to look for stigmas (markers) that may indicate a pathological process in that system.

Dosha Balance

Dosha Balance Algorithm

The second algorithm projects macro-zones onto the tongue, which are associated with the supreme regulatory systems of the body: the Maha Doshas in Ayurveda, or the Yin-Yang balance in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

If a Vikruti condition is identified (a pathological deviation in the function of the regulatory systems — the Doshas), as analyzed by the Constitution module, the zone associated with the corresponding Dosha is highlighted in one of two colors:

In this context, a Vata Dosha imbalance corresponds to pathogenic Wind in TCM, a Pitta imbalance to Empty/Full Heat, and a Kapha imbalance to Dampness and Phlegm accumulation.

Subdosha Balance

Subdosha Balance Algorithm

The third algorithm integrates data from the analysis of Subdoshas (regulatory systems), which are projected at the third pulse level, with data obtained from tongue diagnosis.

This algorithm is an innovative development of the VedaPulse project. It allows for the incorporation of data from the Tongue Diagnosis module into the analysis of disease progression stages and pathogenesis mechanisms, according to the principles of Ayurveda and TCM.

As a result of automatic analysis performed by the program's heuristic algorithm, data on the state of regulatory systems (categorized by Subdosha) is displayed on the tongue image within zones associated with the corresponding systems. These zones are highlighted in one of the following colors:

If a functional system is highlighted in yellow or red, the specialist should examine that corresponding area of the tongue more carefully to look for stigmas (markers) that may indicate a pathological process in that system.

In the text field on the right, the specialist can enter a description of the client's condition based on the visual analysis, along with their conclusions and recommendations.
